Our Story
From small innovative beginnings in the Fry’s Family kitchen, Fry’s has become an international success. In an effort to seek vegetarian varieties Wally and Debbie Fry, both committed vegetarians, began making protein alternatives or meat analogues for their own consumption.
In 1992, just one year later, these ideas formed the canvas for innovative discovery which led to the establishment of Fry Group Foods. Fry Group Foods is still owned and run, passionately, by the Fry’s Family and has grown in product and stature to where it is today.
The family is still involved in all aspects of the business; co-founders Wally and Debbie are executive members of the board and oversee all operations throughout South Africa and the world. Their eldest daughter, Tammy, is the Marketing Director and lifelong vegetarian. Her husband, Richard Kelly, is the Director of Compliance and ensures that all your veggie burgers are produced to the highest of international standards.
Hayley, the middle Fry daughter, is tasked with creating delicious new vegetarian products to keep your taste buds coming back for more. Shaun Richardson, her husband, is involved with exporting our food to the four corners of the globe and knows his way around a computer. Stacey Fry, who is a fresh graduate, has recently come into the business and is beginning to learn the ropes.
The business is driven by the family’s passion to create delicious and cruelty-free food that has as little impact on the natural environment as possible with emphasis on putting principles over profits.
“Good food, great taste… Naturally!”
