Fry's Special Vegetarian Recipes

Fry’s Meat Balls

Serves 8
Ingredients
1 Packet Fry’s Vegetarian Mince
1 Grated Onion
1 Vegetable Stock Cube
4 Slices Bread
To Taste Salt, Pepper & Garlic
1/2 Cup Brown Lentils/Rice
1/2 Grated Green Pepper (Optional)
3 Beaten Eggs
500 ml Cooking Oil
A Little Flour
Tomato Gravy
3 Soft Tomatoes
1 Vegetable Stock Cube
1/2 Chopped Onion
1/2 Chopped Green Pepper
1/2 Chopped Brinjal
3 Chopped Baby Marrows
1/2 Tsp Sugar
To Taste Salt & Pepper
Sweet & Sour Sauce
2 Tblsp Sugar
2 Tblsp White Wine/Vinegar
1 Tblsp Tomato Puree
1 Vegetable Stock Cube
2 Tblsp Soya Sauce
1 Tblsp Butter/Ghee
1 Tblsp Flour
Method

Mix all ingredients together, with hands, breaking up the mince to a pulp. Put a little flour on a plate, roll into little balls and leave in a cool place for about ½ hour.
Put oil in pan and allow to heat and fry individual Mince balls until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper allow to cool.

With Tomato Gravy:
Put all veggies into pot allow to simmer, add some water if veggies are not cooked. This can be thickened with a little flour or to make it special, add ½ tsp paprika and 250ml of fresh cream
Allow to thicken. Add meat balls and allow to cool, when ready to serve just heat up. Can be served with Brown Rice and Lentils, Pasta or Potatoes. Also can served on a platter cold for a cocktail party.

With Sweet & Sour Sauce:
Mix all in a bowl, place in micro on high for 1 min, open and stir, again start for 1 min and continue until the mixture starts to thicken. Place to one side.

Fry, sliced onions in a little oil, drain and put to one side, fry sliced carrots again in a little oil, drain and mix with onions, the same with the green peppers or baby marrows. The idea of this dish is that all the veggies
Are cooked quickly and individually, when the rice is ready put meat balls and veggies together heat quickly in the micro and just as you serve, pour the sweet & sour sauce over.
