The Get Fry’s into Sainsbury’s Campaign
An exciting campaign is currently underway in the UK that is getting vegetarians and vegans very excited about one hot topic… easier access to Fry’s! ’s campaign is the brainchild of vegan blogger and events coordinator Sean O’Callaghan. But why create such a commotion about getting Fry’s Vegetarian products into one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains?
“Demand for food free of animal products is at an all time high in the UK. Whether it be for personal health, concern for the environment, religious beliefs or an interest in animal welfare, more and more people are looking toward plant-based foods.”
Sean continues, “Large supermarkets up and down the country stock well-known vegetarian brands that unfortunately contain dairy and egg ingredients. Straight away this alienates a huge proportion of potential consumers.”
“The idea behind this campaign is to make it crystal clear to Sainsbury’s that there is a huge number of people with money to spend on groceries who are looking for a major supermarket to take that leap into stocking a completely plant-based range of products such as Fry’s Vegetarian”.
Sainsbury’s would appear to be the logical choice for such a campaign. The retailing giant has recently updated their labelling policy to make it easier for shoppers to spot vegan and vegetarian products via a simple coding system on all of their packaging. With over 1000 stores across the UK, Sainsbury’s would be assisting countless customers in their quest to source quality foods free of animal products.
Although the campaign has only just been launched it has already had an overwhelming response with over 500 signatures within the first 48 hours.
Sean added, “I also supply a list of Sainsbury’s contacts for people who feel extra compassionate about the campaign. They can use this information to email the buying team at Sainsbury’s directly.”
If we can take one message from this new campaign, it is that UK shoppers are extremely keen to see more Fry’s Vegetarian on their local shelves!
