Our Commitment to Mother Earth

By creating and manufacturing tasty vegan, meat free alternative products – we assist in minimizing the detrimental impact that the meat, fish, poultry and dairy industries currently have on our beautiful planet.  The more we serve this cause the more the human consciousness as a whole will understand the need to minimize the impact we humans are inflicting on the environment.  This is our commitment and moral reason fore being who we are.

HOW WE ARE DOING IT

OUR FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITY

Naturally we consume energy to produce our range of tasty and as natural as possible foods.  But here is what we currently do to minimize our carbon footprint.

  1. From the ground we have a dark green color factory.  If however you got a bird’s eye view of it – you would see that our roof is white.  Also, our roof surface is some 8m above our production insulated module.  The white roof reflects the African heat and the minimal heat that does radiate through is trapped in a large void.  In addition we have allowed a 40% of area ventilation which faces the prevailing wind thus continually evacuating this warm air and replacing it with fresh unheated air.  This has the overall effect that our whole production area is some 8 degrees cooler than external temperatures.  The net result is that zero air conditioning is required to control the vast production area saving 100 000’s of KW hours of electricity usage.
  2. All of our lighting is controlled to switch off when not in use.  This includes our admin air conditioners resulting in huge electricity savings.
  3. The nature of our process uses vast quantities of water for cleaning and production purposes instead of discharging this water back into sewer and ultimately into rivers we are busy installing water treatment filtration and reverse osmosis systems thus enabling the frequent re-use of water.
  4. We are removing all refrigeration plant using Frion or Ozone damaging gasses and installing plant using naturally occurring ammonia gasses.  This gas is far more efficient and therefore uses less electricity.  This has been done at considerable cost.
  5. We ensure through a great deal of research and auditing that none of the crops used to create the raw materials we use such as potatoes, wheat, maize, soy and many others are from farmers who adhere to the ethos of planting genetically modified seed.
  6. We employ people who virtually walk to work such is the closeness of their residential areas to our facility.
  7. All water paper and plastic from our plant is collected by recyclers and put to use over and over again
  8. We buy our Sunflower oils from countries and regions where government policy is to allow no further destruction of natural forests and environments is strictly controlled.
  9. We ensure that we do not make meaningless vague statements such as “wherever possible we reduce our carbon foot print” or “we make every effort to save electricity and use sustainable resources”.  Instead we give you hard factual evidence of our commitment to this wonderful and only earth that we have.
  10. We are in the process of decommissioning our electric boiler which consumes 500 to 600 amps of electricity 24 hours a day in favour of a more economical light fuel burning boiler.

The above constitutes a beginning and trust us we are moving forward with the overall research to minimize our impact.
